5 Tips for a Fun & Professional Team Photoshoot

Share

Whether you’re a small business, a powerhouse nonprofit, or a creative crew building something big, your team deserves photos that show off your vibe, your connection, and your personality  If you’re planning a team photoshoot (or dreaming one up), here are five tips to make sure it’s not just successful—but seriously fun and impactful.

1. Coordinate Outfits Without Being Clones

The days of everyone in matching polos are long gone (thank goodness). Instead, pick a color palette or a general style that works with your brand. Think neutrals with a pop of your company color, or casual denim with a clean white tee. The goal? Cohesion without uniformity. This allows each team member’s personality to shine while still looking like a united front.

Pro Tip: Avoid bold prints or logos unless they’re part of your brand. Keep it timeless and easy to mix and match.

2. Choose a Location That Reflects Your Brand The backdrop sets the tone. Are you fun and creative? A colorful studio or local mural wall might be perfect. More polished and professional? A modern office space, coworking spot, or rooftop view can give that elevated feel. Pick a location that complements your vibe, not distracts from it.

Bonus: Outdoor natural light = magic. Just sayin’.

 3. Focus on Connection, Not Perfection Forget stiff posing! Some of the best team photos come from candid moments: laughing at a joke, a high-five, a group walk. These in-between moments show off your team’s chemistry and real-life connection.

I’ll guide you through movement-based prompts that help everyone relax and feel less awkward (even your most camera-shy teammate).

 4. Get Variety with Group + Solo Shots While the big team photo is key, don’t stop there. We’ll snap: Individual headshots Duo or small group photos Behind-the-scenes or “working together” moments This gives you a library of content to use across your website, social media, email signatures, and beyond.

5. Make It a Fun Team Experience A good photoshoot should feel like a break from the norm—in the best way. Play your favorite music, bring some snacks or coffee, and keep the energy light. The more fun everyone has, the more it shows on camera.

Spoiler alert: People love seeing teams that actually enjoy being together.
